Nipple are too long for Uberti 1873 Cattlemen black powder revolver. Interfere with cylinder rotation. Will try to shorten by filing to make work.

They didn't even make it a year before they deformed. I do not dry fire this revolver and they deformed so that I can not cap them any more.

The revolver needs to be tuned properly which includes fitting the cylinder and dressing the hammer. SlixSprings Nipples are not designed for heavy springs either. This customer never made an attempt to contact us regarding this matter. We would honor the product and send replacements along with help tuning the gun. We have original nipples that were used for testing in 2010 without heat treatment or hardening and they are still functioning fine today.

Doing research for new nipples. Most of these reviews show good reviews for the Pieta 1858 N.M.A.'s. I'm not seeing good reviews relating to the Uberti 1858 N.M.A.'s. So the messeage I am getting is that these SliXshot nipples will not work in the Uberti 1858 N.M.A.'s out the box, or maybe even not at all.

You will get optimum service from these nipples if your revolvers have been tuned and properly prepared. One size may not exactly fit all. Some versions of the same brand of firearm can have different tolerances but this is very rare. We sell tons of these nipples and at this point in time, NONE of the Uberti nipples have been returned because they would not work. This review is from someone who never made a purchase.

The nipples are fine - the wrench is maginal - it's a hard fit onto the nipples & the screw driver is to thick to fit any of the screws - 44 cal. walker

The SlixDriver nipple wrench was built around the Slixshot Nipples and has a perfect fit. See image here. My guess would be you were trying to remove the old nipples with the new wrench or installing the new nipples with the cylinder in the gun. The screwdriver portion of the tool has “3” different sized tips that fit most (not all) revolver screws as stated on our product page.

slix shot nipples and pieta factory nipples on an 1861 pieta colt navy repro, showed no appreciable difference in fragments or function.

1851 navy colt and helped prevent pulled caps. But the shape of the nipple is not as tapered as the stock nipples and this makes it difficult to use my TED CASH percussion capper.Not happy about that.

Purchased these cylinder cap nipples for a Pietta replica of the Colt New Army 1860. The nipples fit the cylinder perfectly and indicated that ONLY #10 percussion caps should be used. However, #10 percussion caps will not fit over any of these nipples and I had to revert back to the stock nipples until I can secure #11 caps.

The SliXshot nipples are designed around the REMINGTON #10 Caps which fit perfectly. We're assuming this poster was using something other than REMINGTON #10 Caps. CCI #11's can also work but we recommend the REMINGTON #10's which is clearly stated in our product description.

This is regards to the new rem#10 caps supposedly 40% hotter, I'm still testing, but I've ran half the cylinder with S/S nipples and half with standard issue uberti nipples, now I know the uberti nipples will fail far before yours
But for the average c&b shooter these new caps are a god send, I will continue to buy after market nipples because of the longevity issues, and with the rem#10 hotter flame jet it will be interesting to watch

The slix shot nipples I purchased for my 51 colt navy are very hard to get the no 10 caps on, I dont know if they were manufactured incorrectly or what, I push so hard to get them seat I'm afraid I may set one off, so I went no 11 caps. Overall I'm not to happy with them, but time will tell.

Please make sure you are using “Remington” #10 caps and NOT CCI #10’s

Upon installing these it seems that the material may be too soft and the shoulder where the wrench fits on is too short. While installing them on one of the nipples the corner of one of the nipples deformed and the wrench slipped off. I'd like to email the company and see if they'll replace one of them.

Our Slixshot nipples are made from 416 Stainless steel then heat treated to a proper hardness range of (HRC 34-42). This is plenty hard for this application and any harder will make them brittle. We sent this customer a replacement set along with one of our nipple wrenches that fit the nipples much better than those cheap wrenches currently on the market.

These cones (19th Century term for "nipples") were a snug fit on my Armi San Marcos 1851 Navy revolver but did the trick. They offered a strong spark and really expanded the cap. I did find that the percussion caps fit a bit loose on each cone but should fit a bit more snugly over time with carbon build up and repeated strikes.

They seem to work well with CCI #11and Remington #10 but not so well with #1075 RWS caps

The gun I tried them on, a Uberti 1861 Navy they ran with out a problem.
I have some SlixShot nipples on a 1860 Army and they worked very well.

Easy installation, and I saw immediate improvement over stock nipples. I've only put a hundred or so rounds down range,but overall I'm impressed.

I have had a chance to shoot my revolvers with the new nipples in place. The difference is incredible! The old, original nipples allowed the caps to fall into the action and jam up the cylinder. These new ones "grab" the caps and hold them, after firing, until I take them off. Much better.
On the down side, I ordered two sets of nipples; one for my Uberti and one for my Pietta. One set had an oversized nipple in it which would not fit. BadMan Bullets was quick, upon notification, to send me a replacement nipple which fit nicely. Perfectly happy with their service.

Finding Remington No 10 caps are proving to be a huge PITA. No local stores have them and I’ve been to no less than 6 to include Cabela’s and Bass Pro. Ordering them online brings a $30.00 hazzmat shipping fee........nice. The nipples did install just fine though in my 1851.

These reduce the number of cap jams on a uberti walker, but don't eliminate them. every cap is blown apart and falls out the other side. No hammer blowback problems on my gun. After shooting a few cylinders things get a little sticky and caps tend to stick a little, but hey thats black powder. You'll like the remmy #10 caps if you can get them. Use only remmy #10 caps just like they say. others will not work safely. And the remmy #10's fit these nipples so nice.

I finally installed the Slix-Shot nipples on my Uberti 1851 Navy in .36 caliber. I used Remington #10 percussion caps as required and I have to say they seem to work much better at keeping the spent caps from falling into the hammer and getting jammed up in the cylinder. The original nipples and other caps I was using caused two to three jams every five shots. Today I got out and fired 15 shots with the Slix-Shots and only one time did there appear to be some resistance when cocking the hammer to take the next shot. I can't even be certain that was from a spent cap or not. The Slix-Shot nipples seem to working much better. I'm happy I bought them.

I like the new nipples jet they fail to get complete cap jams from happening. I wish you made nipples for the colt 1849

I haven't had the chance to try yet so can't give a 5 star but I like the looks of them. My other two have Ampco nipples and the work real good so I have something good to compare them to when I get the opportunity to try them.

I am convinced this is the best nipple on the market. I have a variety of BP revolvers and they all work great with less cap drag and great ignition. If the south had this tecnology, they might have won even under incredible odds. Dixie might have been played today without constraint!

I tend to like it when American craftsmanship makes things a little more reliable.

I now have these on both of my Remingtons and my extra cylinders. I went the extra mile and picked up the nipple wrench and the loading lever extension (SliX Hand).

Advertisement says use CCI #11, but CCI #11 caps often do not seat fully until the second hammer fall.

As with any caps you should firmly press them on the cones. We have found that some older CCI #11 caps may have this problem. Any of the newer caps work great.

Replaced stock nipples on my 1851 Navy with the SlixShot nipples. I haven’t experienced any cap jams since. They work for me.

Very happy with these nipples which I find much easier to use. They split when fired and do not fall into the gun to clog the action. Just give the gun a flip after firing and they usually just fall away.

I've two sets of these now. They help with the broken caps falling in the action. The fact that they are stainless let me know when I've got them clean after shooting. Big improvement over stock.

I've not shot my pistol with the product yet, but the machining looks very clean. my pietta threads didn't appear to be machined all the way 100% accurate, so some of the nipples felt like they were tight but in fact needed to be further tightened, i had an issue with the cylinder rotating because they didn't seat far enough, this isn't an issue with the nipples, just an FYI with pietta. Now that they are corrected seated, revolver cycles fine. cannot wait to shoot it. cci #10 and #11 appear to fit ok, once i shoot i can tell which ones stay and which fall off.

Works as advertised. Allows me to use a wider variety of percussion caps.

I installed the new nipples just in time to go to the True Grit shoot in Roseburg Oregon. The guns never had a single misfire. Package said to use #10 caps. I could only find CCI and they were too tight. I had some REM #11 that were borderline loose. From some research I think that CCI #11 or REM # 10 will fit just right.

I have a Peitta 1851 Colt Navy 44cal. Had a problem with caps splitting and causing jams. the Slixshot nipples fixed it shoots great no problem after 30 rounds not one jam, worth the price.

While I wasn't sure about replacing my Navy and Walker with 'aftermarket' items, these really did pass the test and work as advertised (and improve the shooting of both!) Strongly recommend anyone with those guns (.44 BP revolvers) to upgrade!

I bought these for my 1858 Remington and they fit perfectly and performed as they said they would. Their a bit pricey but well worth the cost.
